Carol "Meme" Cunningham
September 9, 1943 — April 26, 2016
Carol S. “MeMe” Cunningham, of Brookfield, Ohio, passed away at 9:22 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, while a patient in Allegheny General Hospital following a sudden illness. She was 72.
Carol was born on September 9, 1943, in Ravenna, Ohio, a daughter to Gilbert & Louella (Boles) Hostetler.
She graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1961 and fell in love with James R. Cunningham from Cameron, West Virginia. They joined hands in marriage on March 18, 1966. Together they started a family and born to this union were three children: David, Lisa & Kimberly.
She worked as a secretary for Burkey & Burkey Title Company, Warren, as well as for several area banks too.
Her favorite hobbies include crocheting, knitting, gardening, and camping. However, the most precious of all, hanging out with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by: her husband of 50 years, James; her children, Lisa R. Garasic & her husband Michael of Brookfield, and their children, Douglas & his wife Stephanie & their children, Parker & Ian, Katherine & her husband Josh Anterock & their daughter, Ava, & Michael; David J. Cunningham & his wife Rita of Brookfield, and their children, Kasey, Joshua, & Christopher; and Kimberly L. Kirila & her husband Donald of Brookfield, and their children, Kyle & Madison; her sister, Kathleen Brake & her husband Michael, of Mocksville, North Carolina; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her sister, Mary Mentzer.
A time of gathering to honor Carol will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 from 5 to 8 PM at Briceland Funeral Service, located on the historic village green at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday in Brookfield Township Cemetery.
As suggested by her family, memorial contributions can be made to the Mahoning Valley Dream Center c/o the funeral home.
