Charles Geiger

February 21, 1936 — June 27, 2017

Charles F. Geiger, of Masury, Ohio, passed away at 3:45 PM on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, while a patient in Orange Village Care Center, Masury, following a period of declining health. He was 81.

Charles was born February 21, 1936, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son to Earl & Melba (Miller) Geiger.

A 1954 graduate of Brookfield High School, he fell in love with a gal by the name of Norene Powell. They exchanged vows on November 24, 1956 and together started a family. Born to this union were three children, Earl “Petie”, Charles, and Tammy.

He supported his young family by working as a Machinist for the former McKay Manufacturing, Youngstown, later becoming Ween Industrial. He retired after 50 years of service to this vocation.

He was a member of the former Slope Congregational Church, and currently the Brookfield Christian Church. In addition, he was also a volunteer fireman for the Brookfield Township Fire Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing Santa Claus and gardening.

His survivors include: his sons, Earl J. “Petie” Geiger and Charles L. “Chuck” Geiger, both of Masury, Ohio; his sister, Ron & Sis Hook, Masury; and his granddaughter, Katherine Ann “Katie” Guthrie, Warren, Ohio.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Norene, who passed on September 25, 2010; and his daughter, Tammy L. Guthrie.

A time of gathering in honor of Charles will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017, from 5 to 7 PM, in the Brookfield Christian Church, located on the Historic Village Green of Brookfield Center. His celebration continues with a service on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 11 AM in the church. He will be laid to rest in Brookfield Township Cemetery.
