Charlotte Ann "Spodie" Tarver

Charlotte Ann “Spodie” Tarver, of Youngstown, Ohio, peacefully transitioned in her sleep on Sunday, February 23, 2025, following a brief illness. She was 68.

Miss Charlotte was born October 24, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky, a daughter to James Cleo Tarver and Minnie Lee (Irby) Tarver.

She was a 1974 graduate from Youngstown East High School and furthered her education at the Lewis Weinberger Cosmetology School, Youngstown.

Charlotte was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, Youngstown.

In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, painting, writing books, poetry, and being a beautician. However, she loved spending time with her family the most.

Her survivors include: children, Tracey Samuels (Jarrett), of Farrell, Pennsylvania, Ednathaniel Tarver, David Diehl, III, both of Youngstown, Davida Tarver, of Farrell, and Roxanne Tarver, of Youngstown; 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margerita Odem, Deborah Tarver, Denise Tarver, Regina Tarver, Alisa Tarver, and Twanda Tarver; as well as a host of nieces & nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents; brother, James Cleo Tarver, II; and sisters, Carolyn Roney, Barbara Adkins, & Telina Cleveland.

A Memorial Home Going Celebration will be held in her honor on Friday, March 7, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM, at the Jaylex Center, 2110 Glenwood Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44511, officiated by Pastor Brian Rice of St. Paul’s Baptist Church, New Castle, Pennsylvania.
