Dale Leon Phillips, formerly of Masury Ohio, entered eternal rest on Monday, March 4, 2024, while a patient at UPMC – Jameson Hospital, New Castle, Pennsylvania, following a brief illness. He was 77.
Dale was born November 26, 1946, at home in Masury, a son of Alton Elmer “Red” and Florence M. (Weston) Phillips.
He married the love of his life, the former Jeanne Colello, on October 26, 1968, and she passed on November 1, 2017, after 49 years of holding hands.
Self was forgotten when he enlisted with the U.S. Air Force to help protect our flag during the Vietnam Conflict. His decoration and citations include: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star, and the Air Force Medal. He was honorably discharged from his duties with the rank of Airman Second Class.
Upon his return home, Dale worked as a laborer in the electric furnace at Sharon Steel. However, he would retire from Cafaro Steel where he worked as a foreman.
Dale was known to be a very hard worker. He enjoyed spending countless hours riding his Harley and lawn mower, tinkering around in his garage, and talking with family and best friend, Dick Evans. More importantly, he loved attending his grandchildren and great-grandson’s sporting events. He will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Guy (Dee-Dee) Simpson, Dale Phillips, Jr., Tammy (Gary) Hiner, and Tisha (Grace) Phillips; grandchildren, Chelsea (Scott), Samantha, Gary, Ty, Grayson, and Macy (Danny); great-grandson, Kaden; and siblings, Skip (Joanne) Phillips, and Carol (Jeff) Waldron.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanne; and sister, Florence “Toots” Phillips-Wilson.
In accordance to his wishes, no public services will be held. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage, Pennsylvania.
