Donald Wade Wike, of Brookfield, Ohio, was welcomed home by the love of his life on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025. He was 88.

Donald was born June 10, 1936, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son to Earl Wade & Dorothy (Yeager) Wike.

He was a 1954 graduate of Brookfield High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.

Don was a self-employed truck driver most of his working career. In addition, he did work for Grant Stamping and the Manfredi Trucking Company. 

He was a member of the Brookfield United Methodist Church; Jerusalem Lodge #19, F&AM, Hartford, Ohio; life member of the Sharon American Legion Post #299; and former volunteer for the Buhl Club, Sharon.

In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, sailing, and traveling in his RV. Furthermore, he loved wintering in Palm Beach, Florida. Don was a very kind man who had a gentle heart. He will truly be missed.

Survivors include: his children, Thomas (Rev. Julia) Wike, of Brookfield, Donald (Connie) Wike, of Burghill, Ohio, & Gayle (Patrick) Buck, Ph.D., of Bloomington, Indiana; grandchildren, Donald Wike, II, Charlene Hermann, Mary Wike, Michael Buck, Anna Buck, Katherine Buck, & Alexander Buck; great-grandchildren, Madison, Kaelob, & Macie; step-grandchildren, Vincent & Dalton Probst; and sister, Gwen Huckle (James), of Washingtonville, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Frank Brown; wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Jean (Bergkessel) Wike, whom he married February 9, 1957, she died on March 4, 2022; and grandson, Tommy Wike.

A time of gathering to honor Don’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 4-7 PM in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403, where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 PM. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Dick Smith, also in the funeral home. Military honors will be rendered by the West Middlesex VFW and the Wheatland American Legion Honor Guard. He will be laid to rest next to his bride in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage, Pennsylvania.
