Ellen C. Sanata

Ellen C. Sanata, longtime resident of Brookfield, Ohio, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 21, 2024, following a period of declining health. She was 96.

Ellen was born at home in Lowellville, Ohio, on December 19, 1927, a daughter to Peter and Eva (Delisio) Simone.

On November 3, 1951, she married the love of her life, Albert “Bert” J. Sanata. Together they started a family and born to this union were two children: Mark and Christine. She was a proud homemaker for her family. In addition, she worked at the former White Cross, Hermitage, Pennsylvania, as well as the former Riverside Market, Brookfield. 

Mrs. Sanata was a member of the former St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Masury, Ohio, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sharon, Pennsylvania.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, making homemade pasta, sewing, & shopping. However, spending time with her daughter and grandkids is what warmed her heart the most.

Survivors include: her husband of 72 years, Bert; children, Mark A. (Rosanne) Sanata, of Bradenton, Florida, and Christine E. (Thomas) Valimont, of Brookfield; grandchildren, Eric (Mary) Sanata, Jason (Kristen) Sanata, and Marcus (Kelsey) Sanata; great-grandchildren, Brennen, Mia, Talia, Kaia Ellen (her namesake), Chloe, and Carter; also her namesake, Nancy Ellen Pontius; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Augustine Simone and Stella Derenzo.

In accordance with her wishes, a private family funeral was held on Thursday, January 25, 2024. She was laid to rest in the Brookfield Township Cemetery.
