Eugene "Gene" Martin

Eugene “Gene” Martin, of Masury, Ohio, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, while a patient at UPMC - Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, following a sudden illness. He was 82.

Eugene was born June 25, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son to William J. & Gladys I. (Merritt) Martin.

He worked in the maintenance department at Sharon Steel for over 50 years before officially retiring.

Gene was a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Masury, where he sang in the men’s choir. In his spare time, he enjoyed landscaping, taking care of the church, and helping people, especially his neighbors. He will be missed.

Survivors include: son, Chris Martin, of Japan; daughter, Courtney Martin, of Sharon, Pennsylvania; 3 grandchildren; sister, Janice Martin, of Masury; niece, Gay Baker (Ralph), of Masury; and his extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 wives, Valeria (Pope) Martin & Marjorie (Ellerbe) Martin.

A Home Going Service to celebrate Eugene’s life will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 8148 Ulp Street, Masury, Ohio 44438, with Rev. Raymond Brown, officiating and eulogizing. Family & friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. He will be laid to rest in the Brookfield Township Cemetery.
