Frances Marie Rummel, of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, entered life eternal on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, while a patient at UPMC Jameson, New Castle, Pennsylvania, following a brief illness. She was 84.
Frances was born August 15, 1940, at home in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, a daughter to George and Mary (Dorchuk) Oberman.
She graduated in 1958 from Hickory High School and furthered her education at the Artistic School of Beauty Culture in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Shortly thereafter, she fell in love with a gentleman by the name of Blaine Thomas Rummel. They exchanged vows on January 17, 1963, and held hands for the next 24 years until his passing on April 29, 1987.
Frances was a self-employed hairdresser for many years. Later in her career, she became a nail technician, specializing in mani’s and pedi’s.
She was a former member of the Notre Dame Catholic Church, Hermitage, and currently a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex. In addition, she belonged to the Slovak Club, Italian Club, and 1st Catholic Ladies Association of Farrell.
In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, especially ethnic foods, and had a special love for Mexican dishes. Her signature dish was split pea and barley soup, as well as her special French toast casserole. She loved entertaining family and friends for all the holidays. She took exceptional care of her herb and flower gardens. Her additional loves were Andrew Lessman, the Home Shopping Network, and QVC. However, she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren the most. She was known for always encouraging everyone to achieve their dreams.
Survivors include: her children, Christine L. Goeke (Dan), of Port Orange, Florida, and Kristopher B. Rummel (Jena), of Brookfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Robert Goeke (Gabriella), Rebecca Goeke, Chancellor Goeke, Rudy Rummel, and Giulianna Rummel; great-grandsons, Ethan and Garrett Goeke; nieces and nephews; and close friends, Mark & Dar DiLorenzo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Blaine; and by her siblings, Mary Anne Augustino, Betty Evans, George Oberman, and Richard Oberman.
