Frank De Vaughn Wheat, of Greenville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018, while at home and under hospice care, following an extended illness. He was 76.
Frank was born in Roane County, Tennessee, on November 4, 1941, a son to Robert Vaughn & Sara Elizabeth (Hulin) Wheat.
Self was forgotten the day that he left his home to defend our flag and to help keep our country free when he enlisted into the U.S. Army. He achieved the following decorations: Marksman with both the M-1 Rifle and Carbine weapons.
Following his return home, he had worked as a welder for Greenville Steel Car and Trinity Steel, both in Greenville. In addition, he was a Reserve Patrol Officer for both the Brookfield Township and Hartford Township Police Departments. Moreover, he had also held the position as Bailiff for Judge Ray J. Rice, Sr., in the Trumbull County Eastern District Court, Brookfield, Ohio. However, he last worked for Anderson Coach and Travel, Greenville, as a Bus Driver.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the National Rifle Association.
In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, being outdoors, horseback riding, and canoeing. He loved being with his partner in crime, his dog, CoCo.
Survivors include: his daughters, Barbara Fish (Larry), Toledo, Ohio, and Tammy Wheat, Hubbard, Ohio; his grandson, Morgan Vaughn Diefenderfer; his brother, Robert L. Wheat (Linda), Moundsville, West Virginia; his nieces & nephew, Melissa (Brian) Kelly, Jennifer (Greg) Agresta, & Samuel Wheat; his great nephews, Shane & Seth Kelly, Robert & Johnny Agresta, & Ma'Lik Richmond; and his sister-in-law, Sharie Wheat.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, Samuel L. Wheat, Sr.
A memorial service in honor of Frank was held on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at 6 PM in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, located on the historic village green at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio. He will be laid to rest Brookfield Township Cemetery.
