Glen “Shyster” O. Mathews, of Brookfield, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, while at home following a sudden cardiac event. He was 73.
Glen was born on September 28, 1951, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son to Edward and Florence (Allen) Mathews.
He graduated from Brookfield High School in 1969. Glen worked as a diesel mechanic for Nick Strimbu Inc, Brookfield, Travers Construction Co., New Castle, Pennsylvania, and Chadderton Trucking, Sharon. However, he was currently a paper deliveryman for the Sharon Herald.
In his spare time, Shyster enjoyed going to Geneva on the Lake, eating dinner at Yankee Kitchen & the Brookfield Diner, muscle cars, and listening to music from the 60’s & 70’s.
Survivors include: his wife, Cynthia S. (Honel) Mathews, whom he married April 26, 1999; step-sons, John Michael Henlen (Janelle), of Cape Coral, Florida, and Bradley Jay Henlen, of Ridgecrest, California; grandchildren, John Jr., Abigail, & Lucas Henlen; brother, Richard Mathews, of Mercer, Pennsylvania; and fur-pups, Lovie Bella & Snow "Thug" White.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 4 siblings.
A time of memorial gathering to honor Glen will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 5-7 PM, in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, located at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403.
As suggested by his family, memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Welfare League, 812 Youngstown-Kingsville Rd., SE, Vienna, Ohio 44473.
