Helen M. “Toots” DeVito of Brookfield, Ohio, passed into eternal rest at 3:33 PM Monday, July 7, 2014, at home while surrounded by her family, following a period of declining health. She was 86.
Helen was born at home on January 20, 1928, a daughter to Anthony and Catherine (Truska) Brozyna in Masury, Ohio.
A 1946 graduate of Brookfield High School, she married Nick B. DeVito on October 18, 1947 and together they started a family.
She was proud to serve her family as a homemaker.
Helen was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Sharon, Pennsylvania; St. Stan’s Ladies of Charity; Brookfield Over the Hill Gang; Masury Brookfield Card Club; and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brookfield Fire Department.
In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, and picking up sticks in her yard.
Survivors include: her children, Nicholas DeVito & his wife Glenda, Girard, OH, Steven R. DeVito & his wife Dolly, Brookfield, and Delores A. Wagner & her husband Bill, Conroy, IA; her brother, Carl Brozyna, Maryland; her grandchildren: Christina, Vito, Dominic & his wife Miranda, & Autumn; and her great- grandchildren, Emily, Amanda, Rebecca, & “Nicholas coming soon”.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband; and by her 2 brothers & 5 sisters.
A time of gathering to honor Helen will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014, from 11 to 1 PM at Briceland Funeral Service, 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield. Her celebration continues with a funeral service beginning at 1 PM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Farrell, Pennsylvania.
