Howard “Bud” J. Madden, of Brookfield, Ohio, peacefully passed away at 12:10 pm Monday, April 23, 2018, while a patient at O’Brien’s Memorial Health Care Center, Masury, Ohio, following an extended illness. He was 90.
Howard was born March 12, 1928 in Titusville, Pennsylvania, a son to Howard G. and Helen (Dunn) Madden.
A graduate from Sharon High School in 1945, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy to defend our flag and to help keep our country free during WWII. With the rank of Seaman First Class, he was honorably discharged from his duties on January 17, 1948.
He met Lillian T. Dobozi-Tarcy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sharon, Pennsylvania. This courtship led to marriage and on February 17, 1968, they exchanged vows.
He furthered his education by studying accounting at Kent State University and finished his bachelor degree at Youngstown State University. This education acquired him a financial analyst position at the Westinghouse Electric Sharon Plant, where he worked until his retirement. In addition, he had also worked as a payroll accountant for the 910th Airlift Wing, Youngstown-Warren Air Reserve Station.
Bud loved sports of all kind, participating in many throughout his years. Among his favorites were golf, fishing, and bowling.
Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Lillian “Lil” T. Madden; his daughters, Diane Lynn Miner, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Kelley Ann Price (Ian), Akron, Ohio; his grandchildren, Philip Miner, Lauren, Erica, & Brynn Price; his sister, Marguerite Feigert, Masury; his several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Rocky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his nephew, William Feigert.
A time of gathering to honor Bud’s life will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018, from 4-7 PM in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, located on the historic village green at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in his church, St. Thomas the Apostle, 4453 Warren-Sharon Rd., Vienna, Ohio 44473, on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 10:00 AM. He will be laid to rest with military honors in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Farrell, Pennsylvania.
