Janice Dyko Sirianni, 77, of Brookfield, Ohio, left us peacefully on December 24, 2024, surrounded by friends and family at her home. A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Janice will always be remembered for her sweet smile, selfless nature, and generous heart.
Born on April 25, 1947, on a farm in Mercer, Pennsylvania, to John and Pauline Dyko, Janice is the youngest of 2 children. When she was just 8 years old, her family moved to Farrell, Pennsylvania, after the death of her father. Janice graduated from Farrell High School in 1965.
While still a teenager, Janice met the love of her life, James Peter Sirianni (Jim), at a sock hop and 3 years later, the pair were married on May 31, 1965. Over their near-60-year marriage, they built a partnership defined by patience, respect, hard work, and attentiveness. They enjoyed a love that continued to grow through their years together. Their union brought 2 daughters into this world and into their loving home where they could thrive. In addition to parenting and homemaking, Janice worked various retail jobs before becoming a teller at Cortland Bank in Brookfield. Janice worked there for 15 years before retiring in 1999.
Janice was known and appreciated for her laugh, compassion, and joy. She had a playful/silly side as well as a serious/spiritual side. Janice enjoyed singing and dancing to new and old music playing on the radio, stereo, or CD player.
In her role as Mom-Mom, Janice happily played with her granddaughters, sang and danced with them (and made-up songs), nurtured them, made them laugh, and always made their favorite foods.
Janice also relished quiet moments and reading and gravitated towards nonfiction works in the philosophy, spirituality, and wellness genres. She was drawn to gardening, where she found peace and connectedness through hands-on interaction with nature.
Janice is survived by her husband Jim; daughters, Michele Heald and Gina Sirianni; son-in-law, Jimmy Heald; and granddaughters, Nicole Heald and Natalie Heald. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Pauline Dyko.
