Joanne "Dolly" E. Slater

Joanne “Dolly” E. Slater, of Brookfield, Ohio, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Monday, December 16, 2024, while at home following a period of declining health. She was 71.

Joanne was born on July 7, 1953, in Sharon, a daughter to Joseph & Helen (Koches) Esmond.

She graduated from Sharon High School in 1971 and was a proud homemaker for her family.

In her spare time, Dolly enjoyed listening to music and hanging out by the swimming pool in the summer. In addition, she spent time in Florida, her happy place, with her best friend, Joann Unks. Moreover, she was an excellent cook. However, she loved her family deeply and will be missed.

Survivors include: her children, Jared (Kimberly) Smith, of Sharon, Rebecca (Tony) Marks, of Greenville, Pennsylvania, and Bret Slater, of Masury, Ohio; grandchildren, Madelyn, Ethan, Alic, and Mikayla; and sister, Sheila (Paul) Brakeman, of Brookfield.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and infant brother, Michael Esmond.

In accordance with her wishes, private services will be held for her family.
