Avid Golfer

John Michael Fonagy left this earthy golf course on Monday, August 5, 2024, to golf forever at the five star course in Heaven.

John was born May 23, 1948, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, the first son of Kathryn (Kurpe) and John Fonagy, Jr.

He was a lifelong Brookfield resident, 1966 Brookfield High School graduate, and 1970 Youngstown State University graduate.

John was an accountant, retiring in July 2011 from Wheatland/Sawhill Tubular, as general accounting manager with 30 years of service.

John was an avid golfer, going on many golf outings down south. He belonged to Montana’s Golf League at Tam O’ Shanter and Looney Tunes League at Rolling Hills. To all his fellow golfers: “Hit them straight and long, and don’t forget to pass on the snake”.

To carry on John’s legacy is his beloved daughter, Aleta Fonagy & her guy, Jason Addy, of Hartford, Ohio; brother, Bill & Candy Fonagy, of Poland, Ohio; nephew & niece, Kristofer & Tiffany Fonagy; numerous cousins; and grand puppy, Ava Bear.

Greeting John at the 19th hole in Heaven with a beverage will be: Denise (Andrak) Fonagy, wife of 30+ years; Erik Haun, son; Kathryn & John, his mom & dad; Maria & Andrew Andrak, mother & father-in-law; Nick & Ericka Andrak, brother & sister-in-law; and all his doggies, Scrappy, Laddie, Fella, Pepper, Mia, beloved black lab, Sam; and his grand pup, Maxxi.

To one and all, “Goodbye & may God Bless”.

A time of gathering to honor John will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 4-7 PM, in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, located at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403.
