John L. VanMeter, of Burghill, Ohio, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 13, 2018, while a patient at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, Ohio, following a period of declining health. He was 78.
John was born March 25, 1940, in Mason County, West Virginia, a son to Frank R. & Dovie M. (King) VanMeter.
He worked for Shenango Penn Mold, Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, as a craneman before he retired.
He was a former member of the Orangeville Baptist Church, and a current member Sharpsville VFW and American Legion.
In his spare time, he enjoyed pouring concrete, hunting, and fishing. His favorite football teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets. However, watching Gunsmoke re-runs and cheering on the WWF pleased him the most.
Surviving John are his children, Chris J. VanMeter, Eugene D. VanMeter, both of Burghill, Kelly M. Holmes (Kevin), Ashtabula., Ohio, and Jennifer L. Titchnell (Bill), Fowler, Ohio; his grandchildren, Tina, Victoria, Nathan, Tyler, & Steven; his 6 great-grandchildren; and his extended family too.
Preceding him in death are his parents; 2 siblings; and 4 step-siblings.
In accordance with his wishes, no services or calling hours will be scheduled.
