Laurel J. Holbein, of Brookfield, Ohio, formerly of Canton, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, while a patient in the Cleveland Clinic – South Pointe Hospital, following a brief illness. She was 77.
Laurel was born on October 6, 1941, in Canton, Ohio, a daughter to Jay L. & Irene C. (Miller) Garner.
She graduated in 1958 from Canton South High School and married the love of her life, James H. Holbein, on May 3, 1965.
She worked as a billing clerk for Ohio Power Company before retiring after 40 years of service to the company.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and going to casinos.
She leaves behind: her sister, Mary Lou Appis (Dale), Brookfield; her nieces & nephews and great ones too; and her best friend, Sylvia Abbott, Waynesburg, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, James, who passed on March 15, 1994; and by her fur-pup, Soxx.
A time of gathering to honor Laurel will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 5 to 7 PM in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, located on the historic village green at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. She will be laid to rest with her husband in the Sandy Valley Cemetery, Waynesburg.
