Lemuel Craig Hughes

Lemuel Craig Hughes, of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, transitioned from this life late Saturday night, June 22, 2024, while a patient at the Grove of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, following a period of declining health. He was 64.


Mr. Hughes was born January 28, 1960, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son to Samuel & Mildred (Evans) Hughes.


He was a 1978 graduate from Farrell High School and had worked in food service most of his life. However, he might be remembered working at Steel Lite, Wheatland, Pennsylvania, some of the different McDonald’s restaurants in the Valley, as well as being a trainer for the Golden Coral in Hermitage.


Lemuel was a proud member of Valley Baptist Church, Farrell, Pennsylvania.


In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, listening to music, and was known for frying fish. Furthermore, he could be found cheering for his Cleveland Browns on any given Sunday.


Survivors include: his children, Chavonn Sykes (Matthew), of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Nehemiah Davis, of Mobile, Alabama; granddaughter, Makayla; sisters, Doris Marie Campbell, and DeVone Yvette Hughes, both of Bay Springs, Mississippi; special aunt, Dorothy Prince; Goddaughter, KaTrina Harrison; Godson, Clinton Lewis; special niece, Brittany Moss; nieces & nephews, twins, Jason (Teresa) & James Drummond (Lydia Austin, companion), JaShon Drummond, Byron Moss, LyRic Hughes, Andrea McCutcheon, Blanche Dunbar, Ebony Doss, & Donise Campbell; cousins, SeeRoy Evans, Linda Blue, Gloria Campbell, Iesha O'Kane, & Alesha Blue; step-mother, Ann Lewis Hughes; special big sister, Joe Ann Prince-Chaney; adopted sister, Angela Best-Brown; and God brother, Clyde Hawkins.


A very special thanks to Deacon Gary Lee, Angela Chavers, Barry Holloway, Kenny Smith, & LaVern Johnson for their additional love and support.


He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Patricia Evans Moss, LeMont Hughes, & Stella McCutcheon (Gibson); and special aunt & uncle, Edith "Big Ma" & Ernest "Big Dad" Pratt.


A Home Going Service to celebrate Lemuel’s life will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at Valley Baptist Church, 500 Sharon-New Castle Rd., Farrell, with Pastor James T. Harrison, officiating. Family & friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 AM also in the church. He will be laid to rest in Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
