Marion Harrison

October 1, 1937 — January 9, 2016

Marion Odell Harrison, of Masury, Ohio, went home to the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2016 while a patient in the Sharon Regional Health Care System following a brief illness. He was 78.

Marion was born October 1, 1937, in Plum Branch Township, McCormick County, South Carolina, a son to Charles Edward Harrison, Sr., & Jannie Lou (Wells) Harrison.

He was a 1955 graduate of Farrell High School. Self was forgotten the day that Marion left his home to defend our flag and help keep our country free. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent three years in Germany where he achieved the rank of Private First Class. Following his honorable discharge in 1958, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He was stationed on the USCGC Tamaroa, Staten Island, New York, as a Yeoman (YN3). After his military career, he found employment as a computer system specialist working for the United States Government in Washington DC.

In his spare time, Marion loved cheering on his Cleveland Indians. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by: his caregiver & niece, Chiesa Pierce, Sharpsville, Pennsylvania; his son, Lawrence Harrison, Queens, New York; his siblings, Charles E. Harrison, Jr., Masury, Annabelle Harrison-Pierce, Masury, Rev. Allen Dent Harrison (Rev. Patricia), Farrell, Pennsylvania, Belinda Harris (Duane), Newport News, Virginia, and Robert Harrison, Sharon, Pennsylvania; his many nieces and nephews; as well as his extended family too.

Preceding him in death are his parents; and his brothers, Ulysses & James William Harrison.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the Valley Baptist Church, 500 Sharon-New Castle Rd., Farrell. He will be laid to rest in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with Military Honors.

His family will receive friends following the service at the home of his brother Robert, 670 Stambaugh Avenue, Sharon, Pennsylvania 16146.
