Michael Bellas, of Masury, Ohio, entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 6, 2025 while a patient at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, Ohio, following a brief illness. He was 80.
Michael was born April 16, 1944, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son to Michael Bellas Sr. and Anne (Fekech) Bellas.
He graduated in 1962 from Sharon High School and a short time later, enlisted into the U.S. Army to defend our flag and to help keep our country free. He was assigned to the Headquarters & Headquarters Company at Fort Myer, Virginia, where he achieved the rank of Specialist E-5 before he was honorably discharged from his duties on the 30th day of August, 1965.
Following his military service, he worked for General Motors Corp, Lordstown, Ohio. He dedicated over 33 years of service to the company before officially retiring.
Michael was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Sharon, Pennsylvania, where he served as an usher, youth group leader, and he volunteered as an Episcopal community services leader. In addition, he was a member of the United Auto Workers Local #1714.
In his spare time, he enjoyed sports, Cleveland Browns & Cavs especially, dining out, long drives in his car, and spending time with family.
He is survived by: his son, Christopher Michael Bellas, with whom he lived; his siblings, Marlene Bellas, of Sharon, Elizabeth Bellas, of Brookfield, Ohio, William Bellas, of Fowler, Ohio, and Ronald Bellas, of Sharon; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Thomas & Robert Bellas.
A time of gathering in Michael’s honor will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 10-11 AM, with a memorial service at 11 AM in his church, St. John’s Episcopal Church, 226 E. State Street, Sharon, Pennsylvania 16146. Military honors will be rendered by the Wheatland and West Middlesex Honor Guard.
