Michael John Chomos, of Niles, Ohio, formerly of Brookfield, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at his home following an apparent heart attack. He was 45.
Michael was born February 6, 1974, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son to George S. & Nancy A. (Korbar) Chomos.
He graduated from Brookfield High School in 1992 and furthered his education by receiving a bachelor of science in Biology/Chemistry from Bowling Green State University in 1996.
He had worked as a computer technician under his own company, MJ Management Computer Systems.
Mike was a Black Belt in martial arts, Wushu, and studied under Nick Gracinen. He had competed and won several national titles in this discipline. However, his passion was in music, and he became a respected bass player. His band, Remains of Jade, played throughout the Cleveland-Youngstown areas.
Besides his parents; he is survived by two daughters, Zoe and Lyric; wife, Erica; sister, Sue (John) Shingledecker; nephew, Jake Shingledecker; niece, Lauren Shingledecker; aunt, Paula (Rich) Coon; uncle, Joe Chomos; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Tillie Korbar, and Jack and Helen Chomos.
A time of gathering to honor Michael will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 1-3 PM in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. A closing prayer will be offered by Pastor Jeff Swogger. He will be laid to rest with family in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
