Michael V. Tomek

Michael V. Tomek, of Volant, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed from this life on Saturday, December 21, 2024, while a patient in UPMC – Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, following a brave battle with cancer. He was 54.

Michael was born July 2, 1970, in Erie, Pennsylvania, a son of Henry J. and Paula F. (Hacker) Tomek.

A 1989 graduate from Brookfield High School, he furthered his education by attending UTI in Houston, Texas, to become a HVAC technician and installer.

Michael was working in his trade for Huzzy’s Refrigeration in Grove City, Pennsylvania. He had previously worked at H&H Directional Drilling in Andover, Ohio.

He was a member of the Stanley Snyder VFW Post #7465, in Volant.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, cooking on his smoker, hosting family gatherings, gardening and tending flower beds with his bride, Mary.

Survivors include: his bride, Mary B. (Mathews) Tomek, whom he married April 12, 2022; daughter, Karlee Michael Tomek (Marco Wray), of Lexington, Kentucky; grandsons, Karter & Antonio; mother & step-father, Paula & Frank Kirila, of Brookfield, Ohio; sister, Allison Tomek, of Westfield, New York; step-mother, Ann Tomek; and step-brother, Marc Deist.

He was preceded in death by his father; and by his step-sister, Rhonda Beduhn.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
