Michalena Fette

Michalena Fette, of Brookfield, Ohio, passed away at 6:18 PM Monday, May 10, 2021, in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, Ohio, following an extended illness. She was 88.

Michalena was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, on October 28, 1932, a daughter to Anthony and Jeanette (Palumbo) Vendemia.

A 1950 graduate from Brookfield High School, she worked a brief time for Montgomery Ward Department Store. She fell in love with a man by the name of Richard C. Fette. They exchanged vows on August 28, 1955, in St. Bernadette Catholic Church. They held hands for the next 63 years until Richard passed on November 9, 2018.

Mrs. Fette was a member of the former St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Masury, Ohio, where she was active with the Woman’s Club. She was also a member of the Brookfield PTA.

She was a proud homemaker for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, going out to restaurants, and dancing with her beloved Richard.

Survivors include: her children, Michael A. Fette (Debbie), of Youngstown, and Carla M. Garofali (Richard), of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Amber  Scott (Chris), Justin Garofali, Brian Fette, and Jason Fette; her great-grandson, Aiden Fette; her siblings, Tony Vendemia, of Masury, and Kathryn Taub (Martin), of Brookfield; and her many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and her siblings, Mary Scott, Pauline Bruno, Joseph, Guy, and John Vendemia.

A time of gathering for Mrs. Fette will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021, from 10-12 PM, in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM, also in the funeral home. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Brookfield Township Cemetery.
