Paul E. "Papa" Ray

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Paul E. “Papa” Ray, of Austintown, Ohio, announce that he passed on July 27, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Youngstown, Ohio, following a sudden illness. He was 61.

Paul was born January 30, 1963, in Akron, Ohio, a son of Frank E. and Edith (Croasmun) Ray.

He graduated from Southeast High School, Ravenna, Ohio, in 1981.

He was the owner & operator of Ray’s Auto Body, North Jackson, Ohio. He was a gifted fabricator who created the most unique designs. His mind was as unique as his talents.

Paul was a member of the Wisdom Center Church, Girard, Ohio.

In his spare time, he enjoyed rebuilding & customizing cars, singing Karaoke, and playing darts. He loved being a “Papa” and making custom wagons & cars for his grandkids with his signature trademark. He truly was one-of-a-kind!

Survivors include: his bride, Tina Marie (Jones) Ray, whom he married August 8, 1997; his children, Michelle (George) Wilson, of Canfield, Ohio; and Keith C. (Amanda) Young, Sr., of Lake Milton, Ohio; grandchildren, Kennedy, Aly, Keith Jr., Kaleb, & Henry; sisters, Diana (Les) Reimer, and Debbie (Tim) Oaks; brother, Larry Ray; and a beloved nephew, Joe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, George Clement & Connie Mitchen.

A time of gathering to honor Paul will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 4-6 PM, at the Wisdom Center Church, 1665 Shannon Road, Girard, Ohio 44420. His celebration continues with a service beginning at 6:00 PM.

Due to allergies, his family requests NO flowers please. Instead, memorial contributions can be made payable to the church.
