Robert “Bob” J. Heaps, of Vienna, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, while a patient at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, Ohio, following a brief illness. He was 80.

Robert was born October 20, 1944, in Youngstown, a son to Joseph R. & Elizabeth D. (Jones) Heaps.

He graduated from Hubbard High School in 1963 and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves out of the Vienna Air Force Base.

Bob was the owner & operator of H2O Water Pump Service for over 29 years, where his customer’s affectionately referred to him as the “pump man”. In addition, he previously worked as an Engineer for the Erie-Lackawanna & Conrail Railroads until 1982.

He was a member of the Vienna Presbyterian Church.

Bob resided in Vienna, on family property that has been in his family’s name since 1873. He was extremely proud of the home he built in 1975. He could be frequently found sitting on his swing on the front porch where he enjoyed “watching the grass grow”.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan, always rooting for and complaining about the Browns, Indians/Guardians, Cavaliers, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He was an avid reader of the sports page and watching all sports highlights. He truly appreciated spending time with his close friends and family. The visits with his grandchildren were always his most cherished moments.

Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Sally K. (Reeves) Heaps, whom he married April 12, 1969; daughter, Barbara Jo Cooper, of Kent, Ohio; son, Brenan Reeves Heaps, of Doylestown, Ohio; grandchildren, Kloe Elizabeth Cooper, Connor Davidson Heaps, & Carson Reeves Heaps; sister, Karen Heaps, of Hubbard, Ohio; several nieces & nephews; and many friends & acquaintances.

He was preceded in death by parents; and sister, Carol O'Rourke.
