Robert “Bob” W. Cramer, of Brookfield, Ohio, entered eternal rest at 12:30 PM Wednesday, April 11, 2018, while a patient of Cleveland Clinic and surrounded by his family, following a period of declining health. He was 76.
Bob was born December 23, 1941, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son to Lewis V. & Ruth L. (Grim) Cramer.
Self was forgotten the day that he left his home to defend our country’s freedom when he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He achieved the following decorations: the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Marksman with the M-16, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Overseas Service Bars. He was honorable discharge from his duties with the rank of Sergeant.
He was a 1960 graduate of Brookfield High School and had retired from G.A.T.X., Masury, Ohio, where he worked as a fitter welder. He later found employment with the Gasser Chair Company, Youngstown.
His memberships included: the Brookfield United Methodist Church, United Steel Worker Local #1375, and lifetime members of both the VFW and American Legion, Hubbard, Ohio.
In his spare time, he enjoyed mowing grass; gardening; planting flowers; he liked to “MacGyver” everything; and to salvage wrecked cars, welding the front half of one to the back half of another. In addition, he loved listening to the music of Loretta Lynn & Tammy Wynette.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.
Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy L. (Hermann) Cramer, whom he married September 25, 1982; his children, Tammy L. Takash (Mark), Hubbard, and Patrick “Rick” Ciallella (Cynthia), Youngstown; his grandchildren, Ashley & Mark, Randi, Michael, & Kelly; his one great-grandson; and his sisters, Evelyn J. States, Hermitage, Pennsylvania, and Carolyn A. Cowan (William), Sharon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, David Cramer.
A time of gathering to honor Bob’s life will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 1-4 PM in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, located on the Historic Village Green at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. His celebration continues with a Prayer Service at 4:00 PM in the funeral home concluding with Military Honors. He will be laid to rest with family in the Brookfield Township Cemetery.
