Robert "Bob" Seiple

Robert “Bob” J. Seiple, of Masury, Ohio, passed from this life on Thursday, March 21, 2019, while in the Emergency Room of Sharon Regional Hospital, Sharon, Pennsylvania, following a sudden illness. He was 92.

Bob was born April 1, 1926, in Sharon, a son to Clarence A. and Marietta (Hart) Seiple.

In February of 1944 at the age of 17, he enlisted with the U.S. Navy. He was assigned to the 121st Naval Construction Battalion aboard both the USS Triumph and the USS Santa Fe. He achieved the rank of Seaman Second Class and was awarded the American Area Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged from his duties in May of 1946.

Following his return home, he found work as a union welder at G.A.T.X., Masury. He retired after 26 years of dedication to the company.

Bob was member of the American Legion Post #299, Sharon, lifetime member of the VFW Post 6166, Hermitage, Pennsylvania, and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Post #112, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing a good round of golf. He was skilled enough at the sport to have made a “hole-in-one” twice, once at Yankee Run Golf Course, Brookfield, Ohio, and a second time in Naples, Florida. He loved watching the Cleveland Browns and Indians, spending the winter months in Naples, traveling, and walking on the beach at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Survivors include: his wife, Margaret “Margie” (Yarabenetz) Seiple, whom he married July 21, 1956; his brother, Thomas “Tom” Seiple, Greenville, Pennsylvania; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley M. Smith; and twin brothers, John and James Seiple.

A time of gathering to honor Bob will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2019, from 10 to 11:30 AM in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, located on the historic village green at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. His funeral will immediately follow at 11:30 AM. He will be laid to rest in Brookfield Township Cemetery.
