Ronald “Ronnie” J. Hanak, of Burghill, Ohio, passed into life eternal late Monday night, January 20, 2025, following a brief illness. He was 80.

Ronald was born October 20, 1944, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son to Andrew & Amelia “Molly” (Robsel) Hanak.

After graduating from Sharon High School in 1963, he enlisted with the U.S. Navy to protect our flag and to help keep our country free. He was assigned to the USS Currituck, a seaplane tender, and achieved the rank of MM2, Machinist’s Mate Second Class. He was honorably discharged in 1968.

He found employment working at National Castings. Eventually, he moved on to work for General Motors Corp., Lordstown, Ohio, before officially retiring in 2000 after dedicating 30 years of service to the company.

Ron was a member of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sharon. In addition, he was a member of the United Auto Workers; Shenango Valley Corvette Club; and a ski club in Trumbull County.

In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, going to car cruises, fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, and going to flea markets.

Survivors include: his high school sweetheart, Carol Anne Williams, whom he married on June 17, 1967; son, Erik J. Hanak & his wife Michele, of Sharon; step-granddaughter, Brittany Svirbely; step-great-granddaughter, Scarlett Priester; and brother, Robert M. Hanak & his wife Barb, of Dubois, Pennsylvania.

His parents preceded him in death.

A memorial service to honor Ronald’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM, in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, located at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403, where military honors will be rendered by the Wheatland American Legion and West Middlesex VFW Honor Guard.
