Rose Cooper

Rose O. Cooper, 99, of Brookfield, Ohio, died at home, Thursday, May 12, 2015, following a brief illness.

Miss Rose was born October 9, 1916 in Green Township, Ashtabula County, Ohio, a daughter of Phil and Maude (Zaebst) Waid.

Rose lived most of her life in Brookfield, graduating from Brookfield High School in 1934. She married her high school sweetheart, Harold E. Cooper on September 3, 1936. He died March 5, 2015.

She served as pianist/organist for the Brookfield Christian Church from her teens until failing eyesight forced her to retire in her 80’s.

Rose will be best remembered for her beautiful flower gardens, specializing in daffodils, irises, and daylilies. She belonged to a number of floriculture groups including the Friendly Garden Club at Payne’s Corners, the American Iris Society, the Trumbull County Iris Society, and the American Hemerocalis (Daylily) Society.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Carley (Raymond) O’Neill of Vienna; her son, John (Mukta) Cooper, Balbriggan, Ireland; her grandchildren, Ray (Kay) O’Neill of Liberty, Kirsten (Frank) Walker, Tucson, AZ; and her four great-grandchildren.

Both of Rose’s siblings, Lee Waid and Phyllis Baxter are deceased.

By her wish cremation will take place and a time of gathering to honor her life will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, from 4-6 PM at the Briceland Funeral Service, 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 6 PM. She will be laid to rest in Brookfield Township Cemetery with her husband.

She expressed a desire to be remembered to the Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512, who lovingly cared for her husband the last years of his life.
