Thomas Pinkerton, Sr.

Thomas R. “Pinky” Pinkerton, Sr., of Kinsman, Ohio, passed away at home on Monday, April 29, 2019, surrounded by his family, and while under the care of Southern Hospice, following a period of declining health. He was 76.

Thomas was born April 4, 1943, in Warren, Ohio, a son of Richard V. and Helen G. (Goodworth) Pinkerton, Sr.

Self was forgotten the day he left his home to defend our flag and to help keep our country free. Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a teenager during the Vietnam Conflict. His specialty was a Machinist’s Mate overseeing the distilling units and was assigned to the USS Galveston. He was honorably discharged from his duties on March 15, 1966 as an Engineman 3rd Class, and after receiving the Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

Shortly after his return home, he fell in love with a gal by the name of Suzanne K. Henrey, and they exchanged vows on February 1, 1968. Together they started a family, and born to this union were three children: Thomas, Jr., Alexander, and Kristin.

Tom supported his family working as a telephone lineman for the Warren Telephone Company. This company was also known as: United Telephone, Sprint, Century, Embarq, and Century Link throughout the years. “Pinky” was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #1996, Warren, Ohio, and dedicated 39 ½ years of service to the utility industry before he officially retired in 2006.

In his spare time, he loved tinkering around the house, woodworking, creating his “art”, and being a master repairman with JB Weld, nylon cable ties, and duct tape. However, he was probably best known for his ornery sense of humor, and his ability to tease everybody, especially his family and close friends. Furthermore, who could ever forget his iconic “Sprint” fashion attire.

Survivors include: his bride, Suzanne, whom he held hands with for almost 52 years; his children, Thomas R. Pinkerton, Jr. (Bev), Tacoma, Washington, Alexander E. Pinkerton (Shawn Rader), Jerry City, Ohio, and Kristin M. Briceland (Daniel), Brookfield, Ohio; his grandchildren, Zoe, Gabrielle, Leah, Weston, Emma, Yasmine, Shilah, & Eli; his great-grandson & one on the way; his siblings, Clara Jane "CJ" Maras (James), and Richard V. "Dick" Pinkerton, Jr. (June), all of Vienna, Ohio; his several nieces & nephews; his best friend of 70 years, "Uncle Russell" D. Hart, Masury, Ohio; and his many fur kids over the years.

He was preceded in death by his father; mother; step-father, Clarence A. "Daddy Ace" Tidd; and by a niece & nephew.

In accordance to his wishes, private family services will be held.
