Thomas "Tony" A. Greene, Jr.

Thomas “Tony” A. Greene, Jr., of Sharon, Pennsylvania, departed from this life on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, while at home and surrounded by the love of his family. He was 87.

Thomas was born November 27, 1937, in Terrell County, Georgia, a son of Thomas A. Greene, Sr. and Jimmie Lee (Butler) Greene.

He moved to Farrell, Pennsylvania, in 1951 to live with his father and step-mother, Agnes (Quarrells) Greene. While here he attended school and later joined the Army. Following his service tour, he returned to Georgia where he met and married Joe Ann Aikens in 1972. A few years later, Thomas returned to Farrell and spent the rest of his life with family. 

In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to music and watching western movies.

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Joe Ann; son, Keith (Toni) Smith; daughters, Gloria Greene, Tammie Roberson, Robin Smith, Toni Smith, and Janean Taylor; step-son, Joseph Aikens; a host of grand and great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Jackson, Mae Ousley, Anna (Pat) Roberson, and Hazel Cousin; special friend, Sarah Regina Hawkins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother; son, Artis Lee; daughter, Rochelle Greene; brother, Leroy Quarrells; and sisters, Marie Greene and Clara Lampkins.

A very heartfelt thank you and appreciation to his caregivers, hospice, Pastor Kelvin Jordan, his niece, Victoria Greene, and Ms. Rita. A very special thank you with love to our sister, Hazel, for being there, caring for him through it all, and to all of you that contributed to his well-being. Thank you all so much.

A time of gathering will be held for Mr. Greene on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 10-11 AM, in the Second Baptist Church, 4 High Street, Sharpsville, Pennsylvania 16150. A Home Going Service will immediately follow at 11:00, officiated by Pastor Kelvin Jordan. He will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
