Verna Louise Huntley-Smith, of Farrell, Pennsylvania, transitioned from this life on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, while surrounded by the love of her family following an extended illness. She was 66.
Miss Verna was born on October 23, 1957, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a daughter to Clarence Dillingham & Eva Louise Huntley.
She graduated from Farrell High School in 1975 and had worked as an administrative secretary for the City of Farrell, as well as the Farrell Board of Education.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading books and traveling, especially to Memphis & New Orleans. However, spending time with her nieces and nephews gave her the most joy.
She is survived by: her siblings, Katrina Huntley, Tara Hyman (Marcus), and Dana Petway; step-mom, Linda Petway; nieces & nephews, Key-Airia, Key-Asia, Khy’ier, Knawledge, Ka’Myah, Kei’Andre, Ke’Yomie & Kashton; special friend, Andrew "Buster" Woods; close friend, Vanesta Kirk; and God-daughter, Tiana Wells.
Her parents; step-father, James Petway; brother, Vincent Lamont Huntley; aunts, Anna Mae Huntley & Doretha Blackwell; and favorite cousin, Darren Blackwell; preceded her in death.
A Home Going service will be held in her honor on Thursday, May 30, 2024, beginning at 11:00 AM, at the Cedar Avenue Church of God, 1045 Cedar Avenue, Sharon, Pennsylvania 16146. Family and friends may pay their respects one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in Morefield Cemetery.
