Warren Clower

October 21, 1925 — April 29, 2015

Warren S. Clower, of Vienna, Ohio, heard the words “well done good and faithful servant” at 3:50 am Wednesday, April 29, 2015, as he passed from this life while a patient at the Sharon Regional Hospital following a brief illness. He was 89.

Warren was born October 21, 1925, in Lakeland, Florida, the seventh child of eight to Leonard O. & Stella M. (Sigel) Clower.

His family moved to Ohio in 1927 and after graduating from Vienna High School in 1943, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in December 29, 1943 to defend our flag and to keep our country free. Following his honorable discharge on May 24, 1946, he married his high school sweetheart, Helen A. Pugh, on November 1, 1946. Together they started a family and born to this union were four children, Pamela, Gary, Keith, & Robin.

He supported his family by working as a Carpenter for Local #171, Youngstown, Ohio. He retired in 1988 from Traichal Construction Company, Niles, Ohio.

Warren was very active in his community. He was a member of the Vienna Presbyterian Church, where he served as a former Deacon, Elder, and Trustee. A Charter and Life Member of VFW Post #3521, Vienna, where he served on the Honor Guard; Vienna Volunteer Fire Department for over 60 years as a former Assistant Fire Chief; Past President of the Vienna Alumni Association; Vienna Historical Society; and the Local Neighborhood Watch. In addition, he was a member of the Good Sam Chapter #22, Fowler, Ohio.

In his spare time, Warren enjoyed horses, ponies, square dancing, camping, painting & woodworking. He also cherished the time he & his bride wintered in Mission, Texas.

He is survived by: his wife, Helen; his children, Pamela A. Clower, Gary W. Clower & his wife Donah, Keith A. Clower & his wife Bonnie, all of Vienna, and Robin L. Clower Timko & her husband Daryl, Hartford; his four grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; and by his sister, Mary Ellen Zimmer, Pinetop, Arizona.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his brothers, Lynn "Jay" & William Clower; & his identical twin sisters, Lois Barnum & Alice Taylor, Dorothy Lesjak, & Angeline Ray.

A time of gathering to honor Warren will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the Vienna Presbyterian Church, 4295 Warren-Sharon Rd., Vienna, Ohio 44473. His celebration continues with a memorial service at 4 PM.

As suggested by his family, material contributions can be made to the Vienna Presbyterian Memorial Fund (or) Vienna Fire Department, 833 Youngstown-Kingsville Rd., Vienna, Ohio 44473.
